We2USAT K3 Pro Review: A Powerful Streaming Box for Everyday Use
The We2USAT K3 Pro is the latest Android TV box designed for live TV and video-on-demand. It comes with 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, and built-in Google Assistant. This review covers its features, setup, performance, and whether it’s worth buying.
What’s Inside the We2USAT K3 Pro Box?
When you unbox the We2USAT K3 Pro, you get everything needed to start streaming. The package includes the TV box, a Bluetooth voice remote, an HDMI cable, a 5V 2A power adapter, and a simple user manual. While the manual lacks detail, most users can figure things out or ask questions in the comment section.
The box itself features a plastic build with the We2USAT logo on top. On the back, it has ports for HDMI, AV, optical audio, Ethernet, and power. On the side, it offers two USB 2.0 ports and a microSD card slot. At the front, you’ll find an LED power light and a small display. Underneath, there are rubber feet, vents for cooling, and wall-mount cutouts.
Quick Setup and First-Time Use
Startup is simple. Press and hold the OK and Volume Down buttons on the remote until the LED blinks. The box pairs automatically.
A startup wizard guides you through the initial setup. A We2USAT disclaimer follows, explaining the box has no pre-installed third-party apps. You must install your own apps from APK sources, taking responsibility for content and legal use in your region.
After connecting to the internet, the box prompts a firmware update. Once updated, the system launches with ATV Launcher, which organizes your apps and includes a memory cleanup tool.
Firmware Features That Stand Out
The K3 Pro runs on Android 10 and supports 4K at 60Hz, Auto HDR, and HDMI CEC. While developer options are locked, the firmware offers useful tools. You can enable screen rotation for vertical displays and ceiling-mounted setups.
Other features include custom startup apps, programmable hotkeys, app locking, and launcher switching. The Google Assistant also works well with voice commands and smart home controls.
Device Safety and Malware Scans
To test security, we scanned the box with Bitdefender. It flagged the cleanup tool as unsafe. After uninstalling it, a second scan showed no threats. We also ran DefSquid, which confirmed the device was clean.
The box supports Widevine L1 DRM and HDCP 2.2, which ensures HD playback for licensed content. It isn’t rooted, but it lacks an official Netflix ESN license. Still, you can run Netflix in HD using a modified version available in the APK store.
Hardware and Performance Details
The K3 Pro runs on an Allwinner H313/H616 CPU, a quad-core Cortex-A53 chip clocked at 1.5 GHz. It uses DDR4 RAM and Bluetooth 5.0 for faster data transfers and wireless connectivity.
Its Mali-G31 GPU handles basic graphics but doesn’t support Vulkan or AV1 video. The device doesn’t have built-in surround sound decoders. You get audio passthrough and DTS Virtual X, but no Dolby Atmos support.
Streaming and Video Playback
The K3 Pro performs well with 4K HDR10 content, though it can’t decode Dolby Vision, AV1, HDR10+, or HLG. It converts all formats to HDR10. YouTube streams in 1080p, with no 4K or HDR.
While video playback works smoothly, high-end formats fall short. Dolby Atmos audio doesn’t play unless you disable passthrough, and then it only outputs in basic PCM. Only DTS Virtual X worked consistently.
Gaming and Benchmark Results
Gaming isn’t the K3 Pro’s strength. The CPU and GPU can’t handle high-performance games. Frame rates drop, and graphics stutter in demanding apps.
Benchmark scores reflect that:
-
RAM speed: 2598 MB/s
-
Storage read/write: 125 MB/s / 58 MB/s
-
Wi-Fi 5GHz: Full 300 Mbps
-
Wi-Fi 2.4GHz: 107 Mbps
-
Ethernet: 302 Mbps
-
Geekbench 5 CPU: 99 (single core), 297 (multi-core)
-
Antutu: 59,163
These results place the K3 Pro at position 144 on the chart, earning a 3 out of 5 stars. It’s clearly a media box, not a gaming console.
Final Verdict on the We2USAT K3 Pro
The We2USAT K3 Pro is ideal for streaming TV and movies. It offers decent performance, quick navigation, and smooth playback for supported formats. It works well with modified apps, runs stable firmware, and delivers solid Wi-Fi and Ethernet speeds.
Still, it lacks support for high-end features like Dolby Vision, AV1 decoding, and advanced gaming. If you're looking for a basic box for streaming, the K3 Pro does the job well.
However, avoid this model if you want top-tier features or Android gaming. For streaming, it’s efficient, affordable, and simple.
